Prom Queen

It’s been a crazy year of new jobs and hard graft so I gladly welcomed our annual Christmas party, with open arms. This year, it was prom themed so I went all out with an OTT skirt, crimped hair and regrettable glitter. As per usual, the Gloss Lady and I had to document the occasion with a cringey photo shoot, so check out what I wore!

Hitting Up The 011: Part Two

My bestie took us to a lovely cafe called Lucky Bean. We got all dolled up, and feasted outside on the porch overlooking the trendy streets of Melville. I had a veggie quinoa dish and the rest tucked into meaty lamb shanks and pastries.

On Sunday, we awoke to yet another sun soaked day. We put on our best spring outfits and headed to Arts On Main for their market and some breakie. This used to be my favourite spot when living in PTA.

I had a mung-bean flat bread and freshly squeezed pineapple juice. We waltzed in between the art and clothing with a lazy Sunday swagger.

Was also lucky enough to do a little shopping at Melrose Arch later that day, so that I could get my hands on the new Rihanna MAC collection.

Here’s what I got thanks to Jozi and my BFF:

1. Black headscarf for the turban trend I intend to master.

2. Denim cut off jacket from Kitcheners

3. MAC natural lipliner and RiRi mascara

4. Organic Vegan Chili Chocolate. Mmmm.

5. Gold coral necklace

6.Black sunnies ( You can never have too many pairs now can you?)

7.Mickey Mouse printed tee

LOVING my RiRi mascara.

Some things that got love from me this past week

1. This rad little guy I purchased from Shoppe. Decorated him with some colouful felt bunting to create a “ Day of the Dead” decor vibe in my bedroom.

2. The best thing about living in a house full of girls is that there is an abundance of fresh flowers around. This latest bunch is from my lover.

3. My friend Emma roped me into a girly meetup of getting a manicure in the middle of Gateway. I can proudly say that I have no regrets and am LOVING this long lasting, express mani from Laka. I even bought the colour! To top it off, my mid finger rings from Sass Diva are making me very happy.

3. Lurh me these Adidas leather look sneakers. Comfy and cool street vibe kicks for me!

4. Yay for this cool skullboy shirt design with deep meanings that I am oblivious to. I don’t know much about the Tiger Bloods but I do know that I dig this tee that I picked up from DiRTY COLLECTiVE.

5.  Studded denim jacket from Mr P, is perf for the Red Lips and Studs Event that I am hosting for Women’s Day this week. ( PS: You’re all invited.)

6. The boyfriend’s mom just got back from galavanting in Nice, France. Knowing my love for semi-precious stones, she brought me back these fluorite pendants. They are meant to be worn until the string breaks, illustrating the temporary nature of things in life and the need to detach ourselves from the material. Fluorite is a mesmerizing, cloudy stone for healing and peace- two things I don’t ever need less of in my life!

7. Lord knows I’m a voodoo child. Jimi meets Mac with this City Mob decal. Hendrix and Steve Jobs – two of the best things to come out of the 70’s!

Mac Cocaine

We all take photos of things we love right? Well I decided I had to dedicate a post to my favorite collection – my MAC lipsticks!

I get such a kick out of choosing some outrageous new colour every time payday comes along- the girls behind the MAC counter have even started to ask what colour I chose last month and are so great at bringing out the big guns for me when it comes to colour.

I generally base my outfits around what lipstick I want to wear. It’s my drug, my MAC cocaine!

Posh?Oh My Gosh! Vodacom Durban July 2013

After all my involvement with the marketing and advertising of VDJ 2013, I felt that I simply had to make the effort to attend Durban’s biggest event, for the first time since 2009.

So how do I interpret the theme? What is “Posh” to me?

Firstly as a child of the 90’s,it’s Posh Spice. Victoria Beckham and the black and red of her Louboutin’s with the gold logo. Black ,red and gold make up my colour scheme for my outfit.

Posh is steel capped toes and pointy heels.

It’s Mrs Beckham’s chic pant’s suits with plunging necklines. It’s classy and sexy. It’s aloof.

Posh is Audrey Hepburn’s elegant cat eye sunnies in Breakfast At Tiffany’s.

It’s Mac Red lipstick bliss!

It’s Jackie O’s over-sized handbags, interpreted into the contemporary over-sized clutch.

Posh is black on black. It’s long sleeved dresses and floor length, high slit dresses.Understated elegance and regal exuberance.

Posh is 1950’s glamour hair or sleek and slicked back. Which ever style makes you feel prim and proper with a splash of “You Can’t Sit With Us”.

Posh means business and class. It’s business class.

Vodacom Durban July 2013 is on Saturday 6 July at Greyville Racecourse
